Young Leaders

Young Leaders Institute Teach!

The Young Leaders Institute is designed to build instruction and volunteerism skills. Young Leaders work with the Student Leadership Development Institute to help them gain skills in leadership and team building activities. The students will be engaged in intense participation in civic duties. The students will build their self-esteem through empowerment in their volunteer work.

This institute is a rewarding experience for the students because not only do they get to participate in leadership activities themselves, but they get to engage in the rewarding experience of Open to Alumni of the Leadership Institutes and City youth activities or other juniors or seniors in good standing.

My group went to Opposum Wood Acre and helped pick out weeds for a memorial garden for the animals. This facility helps endangered animals and gives thema safe enviroment for them to grow stronger. Picking the weeds helped the memorial garden looked better and we used the weeds to feed the goats which also helped them. While volunteering at this place I learned that every job counts even if it is a small one.

My group went to the Senior Center by the Jacksonville Commons Rec Center. We helped set up for the AARP meeting and greeted the senior citizens as they came into the building. The tasks we did were simple, but it was rewarding to see that they appreciated us being their and our volunteering made their daily lives a whole lot easier.

  12. I love Young Leaders. I will never forget this for the rest of my life !!!!!!
